Regina recalls the seconds before the competition started “my heart nearly burst through my chest! The creative atmosphere was palpable”. Competing in the New Talent category, encompassing colourists who have less than five years’ experience, Gina now has a world of experience under her belt. For these hairstylists, coming back to New Zealand with a fresh new outlook is no surprise, after not only being given exposure internationally, but also experiencing first hand insider knowledge, networking and above all inspiration that will undoubtedly carry Vivo onto a global stage once again. During the Artistic learning sessions, Regina and Angela were given the golden opportunity to see the Goldwell Master Design Team and Global Artist Ambassador Jay Mahmood and stylists from various countries share their years of experience. Angela stated, “It felt like I had experienced years of hairdressing knowledge in only two days, these two days will continue to carry me on for months to come, I cannot wait to share my knowledge with the wider Vivo team”.

It’s a magical time for innovation, as most of us would agree. The theme of the 2018 Global Color Zoom competition revealed at the Gala Awards night was “Elemental”, taking a futuristic view on hair, creating styles that evoke a mineral effect using a softer colour pallete. The audience were inspired by how Elemental plays between rawness and refinement. Tone on tone colours play with contrasts and modern minimalistic shapes for a future-forward level of style.

Global Zoom is a world class event for a reason, it celebrates the hard work and skillful technique of hairstylists, brought together by one of the worlds leading colour brands. Though New Zealand didn’t take home any major awards this year, the bar has been set and Vivo stylists are already preparing for more international success. There is no doubt that Vivo will be the front runners yet again in 2018. If it's anyone who can celebrate the hairdressing industry with such incandescent style it is Vivo. Global Zoom 2018 will take place in a dynamic metropolis that celebrates all forms of artistry-Toronto Ontario Canada. See you there!
